We've got the blues, baby...

It's been four days since we officially moved into our house. Nicole and I have had been going crazy on Pinterest, follow us here, planning the extensive remodel and updating we want to do to our Big House Little Kitchen home. One of the top things is painting the front doors before it gets too cold. We have been going crazy over this pin and decided to give it a go.

We have a thing for greige. Yes, it's a color palette, or at least according to our friends at Benjamin Moore. We like clean, crisp shades of gray, beige and white. Our home will be filled with colorful accents and photographs that bring in color, not bold statements on the wall. The only exception we have is the exterior of our house. We want it to be a statement and we think painting the exterior doors will give it a little boost until we can do some more projects in the future. It seems every color we find that we fall in love with is from Benjamin Moore. The downfall, our closest Benajmin Moore retailer is more than 30 minutes away. So, we decided to give our Home Depot a go. The friendly man at the paint counter simply typed in the color in the system and out popped the color code for their system and voila, we have a color very similar to Hale Navy. Our house exterior has a color palette of blues that accent the half brick front quite well. We are considering keeping the same color family when we redo the siding, so we think this color will accent our future plans quite well. The palette is a little dated, it just needs refined.

Since it is obviously dark in this photo, you can see tonight's project is doing the prep for tomorrow's painting. Our current doors are an odd shade of off white/yellow on the interior and the exterior is a unique shade of baby blue. Our plan is to paint the interior White Dove (also Benjamin Moore) to match our plans for future trim painting and Hale Navy on the exterior. Painters tape is a DIYers best friend. We want to preserve the white trim around the window and give a crisp clean edge when painted.
